High-visibility apparel is intended to make the wearer more visible with color enhanced fabrics and reflective taping. Like any type of clothing, even high-visibility garments can fade, become soiled and torn, but with high-visibility apparel, these imperfections can reduce the effectiveness of the garment. Use these specific washing instructions for Carhartt High-Visibility clothing so your garments last as long as possible.

Carhartt High-Visibility Garment Care

Color Enhanced – these shirts and sweatshirts don't have reflective taping, but need to be machine washed warm with like colors. You can use non-chlorine bleach when needed on the knit shirts but not fabric softeners; don't use bleach on the color-enhanced sweatshirts. Both need to be tumbled dry on medium and removed promptly.

High Visibility Outerwear with 3M Reflective Material – zip the garment and turn it inside out, machine wash cold separately. Don't bleach your hi-vis garments, and tumble dry low and remove promptly. The outwear can be cool ironed, but not laundered industrially. Maximum wash cycles: 25 for rainwear, 30 for vests.

High Visibility Knit T-shirts with 3M Scotchlite Reflective Material – turn garment inside out and machine wash cold separately. Don't bleach or use fabric softeners, but tumble dry low and remove promptly. The knit shirts can be cool ironed, but not laundered industrially. Maximum wash cycles: 25.

High Visibility Fleece Sweatshirts with 3M Scotchlite Reflective Material – zip garments and turn inside out; machine was cold separately. Don't bleach or use fabric softeners, but tumble dry low and remove promptly. The fleece sweatshirts can be cool ironed, but not laundered industrially. Maximum wash cycles: 25.

High Visibility Fleece Headwear with 3M Scotchlite Reflective Material – Turn inside out and machine wash cold separately. Don't bleach or use fabric softeners; tumble dry low and remove promptly. The fleece headwear can be cool ironed, but not laundered industrially. Maximum wash cycle: 25.

Following all laundering instructions and maximum wash cycles for each garment helps to ensure the longevity of your Carhartt high-visibility clothing. After the maximum amount of washes, the reflectivity on the 3M tape will no longer meet ANSI levels, and the garment may no longer function properly.
