At the turn of the century in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, an engineer for the Railroad decided there wasn’t a single cap good enough for the needs of railroad men. Today, we have Kromer Caps. What began as a two-person operation has grown to a worldwide company with updated manufacturing techniques and modern facilities. The Kromer cap was originally made with 100% cloth and a soft flexible visor that clung to the head despite strong gusts of wind. The caps also featured a sweatband of absorbent cloth and an outside band to be pulled down over the years – a touch made my Kromer’s wife, Ida. After years of advancements, you can still have faith that your Kromer cap will be individually inspected before it makes it to out the door.
